School leadership: A distributed perspective
Effective leaders have a powerful influence on school effectiveness and student achievement (Leithwood and Jantzi, 2000). Effective leadership works. Yet, defining leadership is a confusing task. Despite a very broad and substantial research base, the overarching theory of leadership is fragmented by various theories. In fact, the broader the empirical base becomes, the more confusing the notion of leadership.
The presenters will deliver a lecture on the current state of distributed leadership research and begin a discussion on practical ways to implement elements of the distributed leadership framework.
Information about the lecture or a copy of lecture notes can be obtained by email from bill.boudreaux@selu.edu.
